How Helene Affected The People Of Appalachia

To begin with, this is your president. This ought to be one of the most shameful things ever said by a sitting president. "Do you have any words to the victims of the hurricane?" Stock Market Breakdown?

BY PGF
2 years, 8 months ago

The “Head and Shoulders” stock market pattern usually indicates a reversal of the prior trend in (a) stocks.

Charts are read from left to right. Here is an example illustration:

“The Head and Shoulders pattern is one of the most widely recognized reversal patterns and one of the most reliable bearish signals when found in uptrends, thus signaling the end of its [Bull Market] run.”

“The reason why it’s called a Head and Shoulders is because the first high (left Shoulder) and third or last high (right Shoulder) are both lower than the second or middle high (Head), making the pattern look vaguely like a silhouette of a person’s head and shoulders. A trendline can then be drawn connecting the lows after the first two peaks and extending it out to the right. This trendline is called the ‘Neckline’.” – Quote from a Zacks technical paper on stock market patterns.

Here we are in the S&P broad market index:

The pattern is circled, and a thin red line indicates the top of each shoulder. April 2020 was the Trump lockdown bottom. The market went up until September of last year; that’s when the pattern started to form. The second “right” shoulder appears to be developing now. It could break the second shoulder to the upside, continuing the bull market run. But things don’t look good; you know the macro; inflation, war, money printing, dollar losing global confidence, potential food shortages, etc. The market doesn’t always break down when this chart pattern prevails, but we just thought you might need to know that it usually does.

Edit: Read this SitRep on Europe over the weekend. WRSA laments; “Where Are The American-Sourced Discussions On These Issues?” Yep, reading Americans about the situation over there is a total waste of time.

Refuse Him Not

BY PGF

“18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: 20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: 21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. 25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire.” – Hebrews 12:18-29

Verses 18 through 21 remind the reader of Mount Sinai and the terrible presence of Holy God. See Exodus 19:12-20. But those that had put their faith in Christ as the church was birthed, and all Christians, have come to mount Sion, the city of the living God, and to the heavenly Jerusalem. The heavenly Jerusalem is no comparison to the earthly. It’s the most excellent presence of the living God who dwells there, and those who God has called are already citizens, having entered into eternal life at the moment of the new birth.

Verse 25 says that you are to refuse Him not. How terrible was it for those that knew the truth and rejected Him on earth both under Moses and in the first century? Don’t turn away from Him that now speaks from Heaven.

You are to be salt, not honey. The word of God is sweet to the ear but bitter to the belly (Revelation 10:9), dividing both heart and soul asunder (Hebrews 4:12). But Christians won’t bare the sword of truth as they are supposed to by speaking righteousness into the world. Everywhere they are turning away. How can you refuse Him that speaks from Heaven? How shall you escape the damnation of God?

Christians, if that’s what they are, have been taught that the Kingdom of God is in some far-flung distant future only dimly lit, and to rest upon their ease, they will be raptured away. They learned this from the men taught in the American University system, which should rightly be called cemetery schools. They are where faith goes to die under the weight of the doctrines of men.

Look what God has given you: “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant…” You should be filled with all joy to overflowing that you desire to tell all men of Christ and what great things He has done that they too may enter into the glorious presence of God; to know the Father through His Son Jesus Christ.

The heavenly Jerusalem is now. Hebrews 12 says that it’s right now and available to all who would put their faith in Christ. Why have you turned away? You’ve been misled or lied to perhaps that Christ’s blood was insufficient. The blood of righteous able cried out unto God from the ground (Genesis 4:10), but verse 24 in our text says how much better is the sprinkling of the perfect blood of Christ that when applied by your belief through faith Christ’s blood cries forgiven, redeemed, and clean unto the Father in your stead. Why have you turned away? Why have you come short of the glory of God?

In verse 22 specifically, we see that the heavenly Jerusalem is now. Flee from your false teachers; turn back to your first love, the Father of lights in whom there is no variableness. Now, are we come to Sion, the city of the living God, great and terrible is He, for our God is a consuming fire, how will you escape the wrath having turned away!?!

Return to Jesus, the mediator of the New Covenant; your teachers are false; your Kingdom is not later, for Christ rules and reigns from one end of the heavens to the other that you might be filled with the truth to serve Him by building the city, this Kingdom, by the Spirit of God which is the Almighty in you. Judgment is now, from day to day, but you looked away and followed after another master. Lies, comfort, and ease are not better than the living God.

How can Hebrews 12:22 exist now and Revelation 21:2 be later? The Bible doesn’t contradict. Indeed He comes again, and the final order with Him, but these things were to have shortly come to pass in Revelation some two thousand years ago, or Hebrews 12 isn’t true. If the Holy Spirit is God, and surely He is, and you have the Holy Spirit, then why are you waiting for another generation to build His kingdom? His kingdom cannot be moved, so why have you left it?

Jesus said in the gospels that he would do no great thing because faith was lacking. In your shrinking away, you’ve reduced your faith and thereby the power of God in you. The Kingdom awaits and with it a Christian a country, but you don’t believe because devils have told you that it can’t be done, the Kingdom is not yet, while they tell you to wait for The Antichrist (the which there is no such person), to stand in a temple that no longer exists! Why do you seek antichrist instead of the heavenly Jerusalem? Who do you actually worship?

“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” – Hebrews 12:28

You are to be salt, not honey; the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not a social gospel, and the declaration of His truth in righteousness, not a weak and beggarly defeat. This is the building of the Kingdom now. What’s wrong with you that you won’t serve the living God? Why do you shrink back from the mark of the high calling of Christ Jesus for you? Who has told you to be a consumerist of Christianity, for they are false!

Why are you not now being made meet for the Master’s use? Why won’t you consume the Bible as a ravenous child crying out to the Father for sustenance that you may live? Why won’t you pray down the power of God that you might bring forth fruit by the thousands to conversion at the foot of His cross? Why have you once believed and turned away from He that now speaks from Heaven? What’s wrong with you, are you converted to the way or not?

Christianity isn’t about an experience, you narcissistic feelings seekers. It’s not about you at all. It’s about Him, the mediator of a new and better covenant. It’s not better because it’s easier; it’s a better covenant because He is better than the blood of dumb animals. Christ having been made sinful man, yet without sin, so that you might be made the righteousness of God in Him, He speaks now from Heaven. When you see Him, you will know just how small you are? It’s about His Kingdom, His designs, and His purposes. Why are you not trying to fulfill the full measure of all that He called you to? Do you seek to feel good now to stand before Him later with nothing to show? That’s not Christianity.

“And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” – Hebrews 12:27-28

Why are you shaken when you’ve been brought forth out of darkness into the glorious light of Christ Jesus? You are to have been the fruit that remains, being part of the Root, which is Christ; you are now a branch to bear fruit to glorify His holy name. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh.

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” – Luke 9:62

The same Christ that forgave and saved you can forgive and restore you now. You may be willing to die for Christ, but will you live for Him?

Holosun 508T Review – The RMR Killer?

BY Herschel Smith
2 years, 8 months ago

He obviously likes the Holosun.

It’s Chinese.  We all know that.  It’s also less expensive than the Trijicon RMR.

If Trijicon wants to compete against a product just as good and less expensive, they’re going to have to do it by coming down on price.  I hope someone who works for Trijicon is reading this.

It’s just that simple.  Yea, you can make the claim that you don’t want to fund business in China.  That’s all well and good.  But every unnecessary penny you spend now will affect your future wealth or the wealth of your children’s children.

So Americans can get their righteous indignation on, but when it comes to spending wealth, the case becomes much more complex.  God has expectations for what we do with our wealth.  So go ahead and play that balancing act – you know that’s what’s going on. And I don’t mind pointing it out.

Systems Of Government

“I do not say that democracy has been more pernicious on the whole, and in the long run, than monarchy or aristocracy. Democracy has never been and never can be so durable as aristocracy or monarchy; but while it lasts, it is more bloody than either. … Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than aristocracy or monarchy. It is not true, in fact, and nowhere appears in history. Those passions are the same in all men, under all forms of simple government, and when unchecked, produce the same effects of fraud, violence, and cruelty. When clear prospects are opened before vanity, pride, avarice, or ambition, for their easy gratification, it is hard for the most considerate philosophers and the most conscientious moralists to resist the temptation. Individuals have conquered themselves. Nations and large bodies of men, never.” – John Adams, The Letters of John and Abigail Adams

The notion that 51% of the population can give a giant wedgie to the other 49% is wicked.  On the other hand, there is this.

“We are on the brink of a dramatic change; we are about to abandon the traditional system of money and replace it with a new one, Digital Blockchain CBDC, which will give us greater clarity over every single transaction.” – Economist Pippa Malmagren, speaking at the 2022 World Government Summit.

And I would add, the ability to manage and approve those transactions, as well as provide opportunity for graft and corruption (like bailing banks out with your wealth).

Sin infects every form of government.  It’s all considered building the Tower of Babel to God.  Only nations under the rule of His law-word can survive.

Testing The Savage 110 Magpul Hunter

American Hunter.

Savage 110 Magpul Hunter Bolt-Action Rifle

The shooters tested the rifle out as follows.

Savage 110 Magpul Hunter Accuracy Results

That’s an accurate gun for MSRP of $1045.  Not a single 3-round group over 1 MOA.

I am posting this in the spirit of keeping you informed of the current firearms on the market and how they’re testing, as well as what they cost.  This looks like a good deal.

But then there is the old issue over these pages of desiring something with classic, elegant wooden furniture.  It would make a better heirloom, but be much heavier to carry.

ATF Rumors and News

BY PGF

After the Chipman Debacle, Biden Has Reportedly Found Another Candidate to Head the ATF.

During an unsuccessful run for attorney general of Ohio in 2018, [Steve] Dettelbach called for reinstating the assault weapons ban and universal background checks on gun purchases—two positions that have sparked GOP opposition to past nominees. A U.S. attorney from 2009 to 2016, he sought a return to that post last year. He has supporters in high places. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) has been pushing him as a nominee for ATF director, according to four people familiar with the conversations.

And: Not even ATF can verify ATF’s ‘ghost gun’ claims

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has a unique reputation among federal law enforcement agencies. Quite frankly, the ATF is well known for not always telling the truth.

It’s shocking; imagine our surprise.

Congressman attacked by a fox outside the Capitol

How can we get support to the fox, perhaps equipment and personnel?

Via WoG: Democratic Rep. Ami Bera of California said on Tuesday that he was the victim of an “unprovoked” attack by a fox outside of the US Capitol on Monday evening.

Unprovoked? Weren’t the foxes and other animals there first? Aren’t “we” the invaders?

Notes on the Destruction of Jerusalem

BY PGF
2 years, 8 months ago

“1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.” – Revelation 11:1-2

At the end of the ten-part series on Matthew 24 that concluded last week, in Part Ten, we gave this broad, unqualified thumbnail sketch of life in Jerusalem prior to the siege and Israel’s destruction.

As background to this passage in Matthew 24, civil order is falling apart leading up to 70AD. Leader is turning against leader (kingdom) and tribe against tribe (nation). The century-long, openly cozy arrangement between the Sanhedrin civil leadership in Jerusalem and the Caesars of Rome is on shaky ground because Jewish infighting has begun. Many on the ruling council believed on Jesus, and many did not (brother against brother).

The relationship has to fall apart as the Jews rebel against Rome because the Lord of Hosts is bringing judgment. Keep in mind; God needs an army to effect His wrath. That army is Roman; they are the world power at that time; this fits the prophetic judgment practice throughout Scripture. “Great tribulation” was coming. This also fits with the historical accounts and the hyperbolic language patterns of Scripture. Do your research.

Ken Gentry has given a documented and well-qualified thumbnail of events just prior to Rome’s full-scale operations against Jerusalem. Here’s a snip:

In AD 66, after a dreadful period of procuratorial incompetence, Israel revolted against her oppressive Roman governor Gessius Florus. By late October / early November, C. Cestius Gallus (the Roman legate of the Syrian province which included Judaea) led a Roman military force to Jerusalem in an attempt to put down the uprising. He assembled “an army of over thirty thousand men in Antioch—the whole of one of the Syrian legions, XII Fulminata, and vexillations from the others, ten auxiliary units, and large contingents supplied by Agrippa, who led his force in person, and two other client kings, Antiochus IV of Commagene and Sohaemus of Emesa” (M. Smallwood). But after surrounding Jerusalem, he unexpectedly withdrew for reasons that are unclear (J.W. 2:18:9–19:9 §499–555; Tacitus, Hist. 5:10).

The article is about Revelation Chapter 11, in which is the much disagreed upon 42 months of treading by the Gentiles. It’s an interesting primer. Read the rest of the well-documented events and his take on Revelation 11.

Gospel Witness, What Do Soul Winners Do?

BY PGF
2 years, 8 months ago

Note: Instead of linking these posts about being a witness for Jesus Christ, we’ll tag them “Gospel Witness” at the bottom. You’ll find them all, by clicking this Tag, as we post them over time on no particular schedule.

But don’t wait; here is some background about being a witness for Jesus Christ. (I was tired when it was written; it ain’t pretty, but the info is solid.) And here is specific technical instruction on how to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the form of a Gospel Primer. Get started right away, souls are dying and you’re losing your civilization.

——————–

“He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.” Proverbs 10:5

It is a high privilege and an unspeakable honor to be given the precious opportunity to lead a lost soul into the Kingdom of God. Through opening our Bible and sharing the Word of God, we offer opportunity after opportunity for lost sinners, under the power and conviction of the Holy Spirit of God, to come to the fullness of faith in Jesus Christ and get saved. Soul winners gather the Lord’s harvest. When He points out that you failed even to enter the battlefield, what will you say? Don’t bring shame to your Father.

You can learn how to be good at sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You can be a soul winner. You are already the exact right witness for a whole host of people that need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You need a few tools, putting your hand to the plow so that Holy God can more fully put you to use for His preeminent glory.

Being good at soul winning is more about being faithful to the Lord than talent or ability. God brings fruit through our faithfulness to go and tell the Gospel to whoever will listen.

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” John 15:16

Soul-winning is a mission-specific ordination of the Father through His Son to all Christians (Acts 1:8). We are to bring forth good fruit for the glory of Father God. Some of the fruit that remains are new converts, true converts to Jesus Christ.

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8

And so there you are, at the uttermost part of the earth, right where God put you. All Christians are witnesses for Jesus Christ. You are either a bad witness or a good witness in all that you do. We should be good witnesses and endeavor to get better at witnessing. We become soul winners by being good witnesses through taking our Bible and sharing verses with lost sinners.

Sharing verses with lost sinners from the Bible invites the Holy Spirit into a conversation to bring conviction to the heart of the lost sinner. By this means, they realize their need for Jesus, trust Jesus through the cross, and accept the offer of salvation. (Romans 10:17)

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10

Soul winners seek that which was lost. Please don’t show up before the throne of God Almighty empty-handed. Soul winners bring in the Lord’s bountiful harvest of precious souls.

“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” John 15:8

Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is not a passive state of being. It is an active faith while being about the Father’s business. One primary task in this business is to share the Gospel with everybody to bear fruit for the King.

Jesus, in Mark 16, commands us to fulfill the Great Commission:

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

The very first duty under this commission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with lost souls. If they have faith and believe in Jesus Christ, they will get saved.

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.” Luke 8:11

As witnesses for Jesus Christ, we often share our testimony. As messengers of Christ’s Gospel we tell the simple Gospel truth; Christ’s crucifixion for our sin, death, burial, and resurrection. As soul winners we plant those precious seeds from the Word of God by being prepared and regularly seeking opportunities to share the Gospel. Soul winners bring lost sinners all the way to the point of asking Holy God for salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. A soul winner tells people what great things Christ has already done for them by sharing verses of scripture that show the lost sinner his need, and specifically the Gospel.

“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.” Matthew 4:19-20

The fruit of the Christian is to be fishers of men, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ while bringing lost sinners to the foot of the cross so that Holy God can convict them of their eternal soul’s condition. A soul winner is a fisher for those souls Holy Father God desires to save.

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30

“He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:6

“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:14-15

The glad tidings of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to bring eternal life are the greatest thing that a Christian can ever share with a lost sinner, “so shall ye be my disciples.”

Lessons From Handgun Defense Failures Against Bears

BY Herschel Smith

Dean Weingarten.

Three bears – a polar bear, a grizzly bear and a black bear.

Kiepertoyo Hinlopen Strait, August, 1995

Another five people of the crew set out separately with only a .22 pistol and a flare gun. After an hour’s march, the second party were met by a bear, 75m away and openly aggressive. The bear was distracted neither by warning shot nor flare and attacked one of the party. As he did so, he was shot, from a range of only 15m and turned against the man who had fired at him. This man tossed the gun to the first, who shot again. The process was repeated, with first one man being attacked and then the other. By the time the pistol was emptied and a knife drawn, one man was dead and another badly injured.

[ … ]

Miller managed to pull out his .357 Magnum revolver and squeeze off a shot, possibly grazing the animal. Then he fell onto his stomach, dug his face into the dirt and covered his neck.

The bear went for his exposed right arm, gnawing and clawing it and chipping the bone off the tip of his elbow. The attack lasted 10 to 15 seconds, then the animal lumbered away.

As Miller rolled over and was getting to his knees, the bear, only about 40 yards away, came at him again.

He managed to fire two more shots, but with his right arm badly injured he thinks he missed the bear. Then he lay still as the animal gnawed and clawed at him.

[ … ]

The hunter received bite injuries to his foot through his boot as he climbed a tree to try to escape the bear. He was taken to Alta Vista Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M., where he was treated and released.

In Thursday’s attack, the hunter told officials he was eating lunch under a tree when he spotted the bear and her cub in a watering hole. He took photographs and started shooting video of the animals when the mother bear got angry and charged. The hunter, who officials did not identify, climbed the tree to escape.

At one point, the hunter fell 15 feet from the tree and then managed to climb back up. He fired his pistol into the air and at the female bear in attempt to scare it, but the animal didn’t leave.

So, in order, a .22LR, a series of misses, and shots never fired directly at the bear.

Dean once again proves himself to be the king of the researchers on firearm defense against bears.

Carry a large bore handgun, practice with it, and hit what you’re aiming at.

You can read the rest of Dean’s analysis at the link.  It’s worth it.
