The Best Headlamps for Hunting of 2022

At Outdoor Life.
They list some lights that throw a lot of lumens, but that isn’t everything, and it’s not most important for me.
For example, I refuse to have a headlamp that isn’t “hybrid.” For example, this model they review is hybrid and can use both a rechargeable battery pack or 3AAA batteries.
I also require the red light for early morning walks to the tree stand.

I don’t have a recommendation but I will say that lumens means nothing. Some lights are very bright at the source, even blindingly. But the beam they cast is a mere 30 feet or so. And the color of some is so unnatural they don’t provide for excellent distinction of objects at a distance. I need a beam that spots. Not that I spotlight hunt, but I need to see at distance, with clarity, in the woods.

My apologies for not responding sooner.
After 22 years of using headlamps at work my parameters were…..Lumens, battery life, price and comfort. I used headlamps on the average of 1-4 hours a day 6 days a week. In all fairness Petzl and Black Diamond make great headlamps but some issues (durability and corrosion) made me seek another brand. Bought a Fenix HL 20 and never looked back. That was well over 10 years ago. Since then i have owned a HL 30, HL 35 and a HL 23.
It was critical that i had a reliable and quality headlamp while working solo at night . My only complaint is they are battery hungry but I never had a Fenix fail EVER.

I have a Fenix HM 50. Red light and 3 modes of white. Works good uses the 165??? Battery. I carry a spare and a solar charger that works well. Wore it a bunch when I lived in Kodiak and it survived the rain. Not as light as my cheap Rayovac but better built. FWIW I usually buy the cheap ones on sale and they seem to work well enough but I also carry a regular flashlight as well.
