Notes on the Gospel of John, Two

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son” – John 5:22
Having defeated death and the grave, the resurrected Christ of God has been given the keys to bind hell and death (Revelation 1:18), and Christ has been made the Judge of the quick and the dead (2 Timothy 4:1).
“And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.” – John 5:27
Jesus is the only one qualified to judge. He “was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus knows how hard sin is on us and challenging for us to resist. But, Jesus being fully man but fully the Word made flesh (John 1:14), is the only sinless man. Not only is Christ the only one qualified to be the perfect sacrifice for your sin but being also fully man, He nonetheless overcame sin. Where the law condemned us, Christ condemned sin in the flesh (Romans 8:3-4). Sin is now condemned and not us that walk in the Spirit; Christ has fulfilled the law. We, having been helpless against our sin, He ended the condemnation when He condemned sin itself by being a man but having never sinned, making us free indeed. He is the only sinless.
Jesus Christ knows by experience the difficulty that every man faces in his sin. The hardness of our nature toward sin, being completely depraved and without hope, trapped in our wickedness every waking moment, and even in our dreams, Christ is the great Judge and only just One qualified, having lived as men do, to offer of His mercy and grace. Christ knew no sin (2 Corinthians 5:21), did no sin (1 Peter 2:22) and in Him was no sin (1 John 3:5). Without His pardon, there is no life everlasting.
Read John 5:22-30. All men will honor the Father and the Son. He that hears the word of the Son of God and believes on Him passes from death unto life (Verse 24); now is the hour that the dead in their soul shall hear Christ and live. As the Father has life creating every creature and all that is, the Son has life that the lost sinner might pass from death to life.
And not only resurrection by the Spirit of God now, but the day will come when every creature will rise to face Christ (Verse 29), some to the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8), some into the eternal glory of the Father as Christ brings in His final kingdom (1 Corinthians 15:28). Christ’s judgment is true because He always sought the will of the Father. Being forgiven, condemned in the flesh no more, seek only the will of the Creator that He might get all the glory through you.
