Seattle police arrest street preacher for reading the Bible: ‘Risk to public safety’

Some are more equal than others.
Seattle police arrested a street preacher on charges of being a risk to public safety for reading his Bible aloud at a public park near an LGBT pride event.
Matthew Meinecke, who identifies himself as The Seattle Preacher on Twitter, was surrounded by Seattle police officers as he was reading his Bible and was subsequently arrested and fingerprinted at a police station before being released.
The preacher also posted a video showing a protester seizing his Bibles and ripping pages while shouting, “Get the f— out of here! Get your holy water off my ovaries, b—-! Get the f— out!”
He was also arrested at a Roe v Wade rally.

Hmm…
I wonder if the arresting officers ‘knew or should have known’ that speaking in public is protected by the First Amendment against depredations by the government?
Is there a way to prevent such things in the future short of shooting police?

Nobody is advocating that. But they did deprive him of his rights under color of law.

This should appear a court in a fairly quick period of time. It is obviously wrong on just about every aspect. This preacher is NOT violating any law. Those that would harm him or destroy his bible are the ones that should be arrested, the second they start to get vioient. Aslo the police should be sued Individually and go after their personal savings accounts, THEIR money instead of the city or town Governments money. Cops have got to start to question their own actions more, like shooting till your gun is empty and the guy is motionless on the ground, then reloading and firing more. I retired after 30 years in LE and I am getting sick of these cop stories and starting to dislioke todays cops intently.

Pearls among swine comes to mind. I give the guy credit, because I’m sure he knew he was risking his life being around the demon possessed.

I take it that this is a rhetorical question. Since this a yes or no question, the answer is obvious.
