Male Bears Throwing Down Near Gatlinburg

We’ve got some big, bad boys back East too. Be careful in the bush. Carry a large bore gun with you when you venture out. I take it the only thing that stopped this fight was the fact that they were too winded to carry on.

I live in EastTN, and sometimes work in Gatlinburg (locals never go to visit, lol!). It is not uncommon to see one sauntering down a 4-lane highway. Its crazy more people don’t get attacked. I keep a .357 Smith and Wesson in my truck more for them than the 2 legged problems.

Every one gets winded in a long fight. Looked like the one was missing son of its scalp. 357 would be the minimum caliber.

I own land in the mountains of Eastern TN, whenever I’m there, I keep a .45acp on my hip and my lever action .45-70 close to hand.
In my time out there, I’ve not run across a bear yet (and hope I don’t), but the people who live nearby keep telling me that they see them regularly so I don’t take any chances.
Black bears will generally just run away if they see a human, unless they’ve been socialized (people feeding them) or a momma that considers you a threat to her cubs, but I’d rather be prepared on the off chance that I run into one having a bad day.

I hit ETN/WNC often to camp and pursure trout, have come across some bears before, they high tailed away from me….
I have noticed several large boulders/rocks that were overturned by them too, lots of prints nearby…
I have a jingle bell on my vest to announce my presence too and means of defending myself if need be.
Several folks camping have been killed by rogue bears too….

Seems they neglected their cardio.
