I don’t know why he didn’t shoot (maybe licensing or permitting), but he certainly had nerves of steel to be bluff-charged by a bear like that.

Ah. That one didn’t even occur to me. I sure would have carried a large bore gun of some sort if hunting birds. But I don’t know about legalities where he is.

Sounded like Russian. He had a dog, so maybe he was hunting rabbits or birds. Peter Capstick once killed a female African lion at extremely close range with a load of birdshot from a 20 gauge to the face. He said it acted like a slug at that range. I noticed this guy was covering the bear quite nicely.
