Review Of The Beretta 694

I would love to have this gun, but they’ve priced me out of the market at just over $4000. I’d also like to have the predecessor to this one, the 686.
Model 686 is no longer in production so it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find them for sale (although some are still out there). They don’t a bit of upgrading and added $2000 to the price for the 694, making it less appealing that owning a model 686.
The comments in the video seem to prefer the 694 over the Browning.

I didn’t want to give the Beretta back. What a joy to carry & wield. I also owned (at the time) the companion bolt gun they made, in 30-06, which was a finely done Sako action with the luxury of the Beretta touch in putting it all together. I’m not a “shotgun guy” but if I were a 686 would be in my safe.

Even if you can’t afford one, test drive a Perazzi, a Krieghoff or a Kolar and you’ll see what I mean in one round of trap, skeet or clays. All three are hideously expensive, but you’ll get a good idea how a shotgun should behave.
I’ve shot several Perazzis in competition and liked them all. I shoot Blasers these days. The Blaser F3 is a medium priced gun and handles well. Shot one today.

My first shotgun was a Weatherby Athena, which was made by SKB, some 25 years ago. Got it as a giveaway from a Michigan bank for sitting on a CD for five years, as I recall.
Not a bad little field gun, but not strong enough for high volume competition shooting. I still liked it for what it was. My brother-in-law bought it from me and still shoots it once in a while.
