Walther WMP .22 Magnum Handgun Review
BY Herschel Smith1 year, 11 months ago
He does a nice review of the gun, including reasons for owning one. I consider the .22 magnum round to be a legitimate self defense round for bipeds, perhaps not for the bush.
There is another reason – in most states, you must dispatch deer with a .22 rimfire pistol, and nothing larger. This meets the requirement.

Hey Herschel,
Thanks for the video, I watched the one you previously had on here about the Walther, or maybe it was just an article.
Anyhow
I have been carrying a KelTec PMR 30 for about 8-10 years now, and carry it in a shoulder holster, I never go outdoors here on the farm without it,walking the woods or pasture, on the tractor, working on equipment etc. doesn’t matter.
Have learned how to load the magazines properly and clean it as needed and the ammo it likes is CCI 40 grain.
I have killed numerous armadillos, groundhogs, copperheads etc. with it, it is an accurate pistol and lightweight etc. Love it
Except on occasion it does have feeding issues, it is always a surprise when it happens, and it happens often enough that I have been considering the Walther for several months now.
One morning back in July I walked out to open the doors to get out the cutting torch, it was early morn before the sun came over the ridge, wearing only a pair of shorts, slippers, and shoulder holster coffee in one hand.
Set the coffee on a box and as I looked up as I turned to open the door…. Looked down the driveway and…..
A large cat was stalking something, probably a squirrel because she was riight beside some barrels of feed corn and she was walking up the middle of the driveway straight at me.
I did a double take and realized it was a Mountain Lion
I drew the PMR30 and just about then, she turned broadside and leaped into the woods after her prey, I don’t think she ever saw me.
I immediately wheeled around and made a mad dash for the cabin, grabbed a rifle and ventured to the other side where I thought she would likely be.
Never did get a glimpse of her
I measured the distance from the shop door to the barrels of corn…
45 yards… Too close for comfort.
It made me recall the malfunctions of my pistol and spent a half hour that morning cleaning and reloading the magazines for it.
Now after watching this video, I did some online searching for a Walther and this morning I bought one!
Thank you for the video, I am sold for now.
I will send you a message after I receive it and test run it thoroughly

Great review and a fantastic caliber! That being said, my EDC at the Sooper Secret homestead is this caliber in a S&W PD 7 shot revolver.
Everywhere beyond that is a 357 revolver.
Always was under the impression Walther’s were some of the best? Thanks for the poast! Considering…

Just WOW!
Picked up the Walther WMP yesterday and am pleased beyond what I ever expected from a 22 mag pistol!
This 22 magnum is the stuff!
Accurate and by far the best running pistol I have shot in this caliber and I been shooting this cartridge since the mid 70’s
Easy to load, shoot, and mag release is awesome
It just runs
