Poor Man’s Survival Fire Kit
BY PGF1 year, 8 months ago
Everybody can find a way or two to make and keep fire from this video. We’ve had some nice days here lately in parts of the country. Don’t slack off; winter isn’t over. Keep your kit handy and up to date.

Nice vid, always good to be reminded of the basics.
As an avid fly fisherman, venturing waaaaaay out into WNC/ETN/GA/SC regions, usually by myself, sometimes a bud, i alway have my vest stocked w 3 ways to make fire and signal.
When wading, a fall can be major if a bone is broken, and one is on the water now, sucks..
Gotta have a way to get dry and warm, hence the fire tools and large clear contractor grade trash bag i keep in vest too..grt improvised protection…

My uncle showed me how to make those cardboard/tuna can stoves 50 years ago. We’d take them along when fishing in the Everglades. Since there was no dry land, we’d just filet out a few bass, light one up in the jonboat and fry in an old mess kit. Cover it up when done and is reusable. No crayons, in those days Publix still sold boxes of Gulfwax paraffin blocks for about a buck each. Worth just having a few around for “grab and go”
