Interesting, nothing new but needed for folks whom aren’t aware. Of how to.
I run Troy Flip ups on every m4 or ar10 I own.
I’ve never ever had to re zero them, bolt em to the pictinny, rear site as far back as practical, the front as far forward as practical, prefer a longer sight pic, for what it’s worth I prefer the HK hooded front Troy, all but one m4 style run the hooded versions.
Also run T2s on most zero/zero sight to dot height. I always run sights up, even the T2 red dots have dumped in the middle of training. No worries everything’s perfectly in line keep pressing the trigger, keep hitting your intended target.
Ooops, I didn’t say that I’m not that finicky, these are m4s not tactical precision rifles.
Good stuff, my idea of battle field accurate is a test we do at the ranch, we play chase. One shoots the next guy has 2 seconds to put a round within inch’s of the first shot, we do this to 4/5 hundred.
The AR10s are precision built purpose built sniper grade rigs, with high end optics, the sights are Troy as stated but off set right, basically I gotta roll the rifle to the left to introduce the offset Troy sights for back up reasons.
Didn’t mean to confuse anybody.
I’ve never had luck with the magnifiers either, they seem to work wonderfully for a lot of shooters, but for some reason not for me. The issues in my eyes, I’ve been to neurologist eye Drs, to determine cause. They write it off as massive eye migraines? Not painful but arrive when I’m really trying to focus on the finest of dots for precision shot placement. Can be frustrating.
Many many years ago I had back to back TBI injuries, they tie the issues to that.

I’m with Dirk on the Troy sights, and I prefer the HK hooded front version as well over the standard wing style. I only have 1 rifle running a red dot at this point, have transitioned more towards prism at this point. On my .300BLK I am running a 1x PA prism with troy backups, front up rear down, just my personal preference on sight picture.
My primary SHTF 5.56 setup ran an eotech for the last 10 or so years, but about 6 months ago I swapped that for a 1×6 lpvo, on QD mount for quick access to BUIS if a major FUBAR happened to the scope. WIth the QD releases on the same side as my white light, I am a left hand dominant shooter, a 45 offset mini red dot doesn’t give a good presentation. So currently looking at ring mounts to put a Mini RDS at 12o’clock.
Don’t have irons on any of my precision rifles, haven’t felt like its needed yes in SHTF that could bite me in the ass, but its just not something I have prioritized in budget.
