Veridian Green Dot Sights

I get ads all the time, most are worthy of ignoring. Some interest me, like this one. This particular model comes in the RMR footprint which is important to me.
I’ve heard that the green dot is easier on the eyes and easier to pick up.
For those of you who have actually used Veridian sights for pistols or shotguns, what are your opinions?
Related, this is a good rundown on the best pistol lights. Since I have used Streamlight, it’s easy to ignore the fact that SureFire also has some nice models.

I’ve not used their optics, but have used two versions of their rail-mounted green lasers on pistols. I’m not a fan. When they work, the green dot is very quick to pick up visually. But the battery life is poor, and you don’t get any indication that it’s running low (at least on my two models).
It works, it works, now it doesn’t. Unacceptable for a defensive weapon, although I kept the light/laser combo as a range toy / demo unit for teaching classes.

I have used a few red dot optics, primarily Leupold Delta Point Pros, which I selected for the big chevron reticle. The last optic I acquired is a Holosun 507k with Green ACSS reticle. The battery lasted over a year.
I really like it. The green dot is more visible than I expected. Green is in the very middle of the visible spectrum, so that makes sense. I find it just as visible as the red reticles.

I run dots on all, well most of my M4s, and most of my Glocks. I try and stay away from the bigger units, they tend to take up too much vision.
In the next few years red dot housings will become much smaller, easier to see over and around. I’ve got a couple smaller Hollow-sun dots on m4s with a much smaller housing, sight picture. Seems to work but haven’t taken those to any stress training.I run Troys the dot must be zero zero for me red dot and tip of the front sight must be exact. Some say it’s slower, maybe, but it’s just what I’ve been trained to do.front sight pick up the red dots always going to be dead nuts on.
Am aware of a couple high end instructors at high end shoot schools shooting over these devices, the goal is to not block any open eye vision, to minimize any blockage.
Was at a friends earlier this week replacing the magpul collapsable stock with a fixed A1 stock,” This is a 20in BCM upper match grade,” Jack is the master instructor at Thunder Ranch, some exciting advancements coming out in the near future T&E going on there.
Red/green have both, my thinking is I learn what’s on the weapon. Had zero issues with either color.
Battery life, I’ve not experienced quick battery drain, I change out batteries on my birthday every year, guessing I could get another six months especially on the hollow suns with the solar strip on top. The trick is leaving the dot somewhere it can get light to assist in charging.
the Delta Pros on a Glock 34 rarely gets shot, a big pistol difficult to conceal in shorts and a polo.
Years ago our agency issued Glock 21s with red lasers. Was an interesting lesson watching how individual shooters adapter to the lasers. I stayed with my 1911, but quickly learned that most on the firing line would use the laser to sweep for the target, rather then going directly to the fundamentals of picking up the front sight.
Much slower, recognized these were lazy shooters with little discipline. Poor habits produced poor shooting results.

I have mounted scopes on handguns in the past, discontinued now as unnecessary and unwieldy. Fixed rear and fiber optic front sights are familiar and fit my needs.
My younger brother reports good results with slide-mounted red dots, after some practice upon presentation.
From time to time, I consider adding peep sights to my lever action carbines but never seem to get around to doing it.
A tube-style red dot on my Mini, and a compact 4X on an AR have been sufficient for many years. I doubt if upgrades would be worth the price.
At any rate, firearms upgrades are on hold for now. Surplus funds are earmarked for my ’69 VW Bug restoration project.
