Improper Cleaning can ruin your AR15 Bolt Carrier Group

I didn’t even know there were devices like this one. I would never put metal to metal on my BCG. What’s wrong with solvent and a toothbrush? It’s worked just fine for me all these years.

Remember as a kid when you had some cheap .22 rimfire, maybe a Remington Nylon 66, and you’d burn thru 50 round boxes of cheap ammo as fast as you could pull the trigger. For YEARS. And it’d just run and run without ever cleaning it. After maybe 10,000 rounds it’d finally stop working. By that point you were an adult and though, hmmm, did I ever clean it?
Yeah, people obsess over cleaning but really, if a gun won’t run dirty it ain’t much of a gun.

This vid by “The School of the American Rifle” has a number of excellent videos. Well worth watching if you really want to understand your AR. He does a so called autopsy of some very big name BCG’s and the results can be very surprising. He has build classes as well. Unfortunately he is behind enemy lines, so just dealing with getting your rifle there is an added bit of no fun, so I hear.
