They attack out of pure meanness, or spite, or just because they can, or for no reason at all.
And the hog doesn’t seem to me like it’s having any problem at all dealing with the cold and snow.
And just imagine – some folks want to keep them around, idiot rewilders, they are.

Pigs, both domestic and feral, are smart. Very smart. And that intelligence lends itself to malevolence.

Hunting season on these pests should be 24/7/365 in all states. In areas where they are a severe problem, a bounty per head would be nice.

The boar hogs in our cantonment area in Hohenfels Germany were utterly unafraid of us troops… even firing off blanks didn’t deter them. We had a squad of National Guard doing their two weeks in 1993 that literally got “tree’d” by a P’O’d Male Boar.
We had to get the Jägermeister to get the boar away from the bottom of the tree to get them out.
We gave them hell for allowing that to happen.

Look at everybody scatter…
Help that person singled out by a wild animal? Hells no, I’m outta here!
Nobody is coming to save you, you’re on your own. Get it yet?

Boars do have tiny leg bones, so deep snow is a problem. Sadly, even here in northern Maine we have not had deep snow for several years. We don’t have a wild boar problem yet, and we have lots of poor, hungry hunters, and it’s typical for people to carry (you even see Amish walking down the middle of the road with a rifle during hunting season), so I suspect that wild boars will never be a problem where I live.
