Gun Store Owner Defends Approval of Biden Background Check Rule
BY Herschel Smith8 months, 1 week ago
“Thomas Engle is the owner of Hunter’s Warehouse in Bellefonte, and he says he supports the change, saying it puts everyone ‘on equal footing,’” the report explains. “At gun shows, he says people could buy and sell without licenses and insurances. He says background checks do not equal registration.”
“Well, a lot of people say it’s an infringement of their rights and stuff, but the problem is, the public wants to feel safe,” Engle elaborated in the accompanying video.
You know, I don’t think this guy has the gift of gab at all. Even if he felt that way, it’s smartest not to say it out loud around gun owners who know better.
On another topic, I would avoid someone like that. Avoid being around them, avoid buying from them, and in fact not even befriend them. He seems rather impulsive, imprecise and dangerous if you ask me.
Finally, the degree to which Form 4473 doesn’t equal registration is debatable. Up until now, with person-to-person sales, this may actually have been true. But with the most recent rule changes, I would disagree with his assertion.
It reminds me of where they really want to go with all of this, quoting from the Kos kids (who are no doubt as much fans of the ATF as the FFL David cited above).
The only way we can truly be safe and prevent further gun violence is to ban civilian ownership of all guns. That means everything. No pistols, no revolvers, no semiautomatic or automatic rifles. No bolt action. No breaking actions or falling blocks. Nothing. This is the only thing that we can possibly do to keep our children safe from both mass murder and common street violence.
Unfortunately, right now we can’t. The political will is there, but the institutions are not. Honestly, this is a good thing. If we passed a law tomorrow banning all firearms, we would have massive noncompliance. What we need to do is establish the regulatory and informational institutions first. This is how we do it. The very first thing we need is national registry. We need to know where the guns are, and who has them.
Ban civilian gun ownership. Go ahead. Welcome to ThunderDome, kid.

I think the track record of governments slowly inching along and gathering information on what we own is self evident personal use of firearms is being discouraged. So many governments in our time have removed our choice of self protection as ITS FOR OUR OWN GOOD. The facilities which allow us to even practice have been under attack due to environmental concerns.
When a murder occurs, MSM often has a pistol on the screen, even when a firearm wasn’t even used during the commission of the crime. All gun owners are demonized and thought of as ‘whacko – ready to snap and commit a mass shooting’.

I must have been living under a rock; somehow I entirely missed that Congress changed the definition of “in the business”.

ATF don’t need no congress. They are god.

I don’t know that this will affect the average shooter. I’ve never made a profit when I’ve sold any gun to enhance my collection. If you keep proper records it won’t be an issue. As far as ATF trying the “guilty till proven innocent” scam, any decent lawyer can get such a case thrown out and then sue for false and malicious prosecution, abuse of civil rights under color of law, and anything else he can dream up.

Even if you don’t go to jail, even if you are found not guilty in court, the process is the punishment. It will cost you thousands of dollars in lost time, wages, savings, and property all because some unelected bureaucrat decided to make a new rule.

Under the new ruling one of the bars to determine if you are in the business is keeping records.
Also selling for any profit, or selling multiples of a given gun, or selling a gun with the box you bought it in will trigger the ATF to class you as a dealer.
But over all don’t talk about it.

I remember back in the 1990’s, a lot of small part time gun dealers which sold firearms were forced to shut down with new onerous rules and expensive permits to allow them to continue. This new effor is just ratcheting up the effort. I don’t see how this will have any effect on the Black Market which traffics specifically to the criminal. In fact, I think more citizens will seek their help in finding what they want. The Black Market wins again. Almost as if the Black Market and Government are in cahoots.
Trump should clarify to gun owners if this Executive Action will be reversed if he wins public office.

Before Trump can clarify anything he needs to get his summer school civics lesson so he can clarify “I like take the guns first. Do due-process later.”
The longer term issue of this ATF edict is an abrogation of the simple but critical concept of two free men exchanging property.

Here’s a prediction for you: Even if Trump does get elected, he will do nothing … NOTHING … to support the 2A.
Don’t expect anything out of him to turn back the horrible ATF regulations that have recently been promulgated.
He will say something like “I will protect you, trust me, you don’t need one of those guns for hunting … etc., etc.
He will do nothing for you. Don’t be disappointed when you figure out that this is the truth.

@Herschel Indeed sir; there are many who forget his quite blatant New York statist positions. I also can recall no one asking the Trump-endorsed Doc Oz when he had the epiphany that converted him from a dedicated gun grabber to a platitude-spewing 2A supporter. As usual, don’t watch what they say, watch what they do.

The ATF WILL kill you in your own home for being an ALLEGED “unlicensed dealer,” just like they did to that poor airport sap in Little Rock two weeks ago.
