Prosecutors say they will not retry an Arizona rancher accused of murder near the US-Mexico border

Good. He should never have been charged to begin with.
That is enough said. Unless readers want to add more about out-of-control prosecutors playing political games to prove a point.

But will a federal prosecutor pick up where the state AG left off? Examples must be made! We cannot have citizens defending their property!!
I still remember hearing about the Hannigan brothers when I was just a kid, but old enough to pay attention to the news and ask questions as to why those guys were tried so many times after they had been found innocent the first time.

He may not be retried but he HAS been punished. Because the Process Is The Punishment.
Odds are he will now have to file bankruptcy and sell off whatever assets he can to pay his legal bills. So in reality he has been punished worse than if he had been imprisoned. Because at least in prison you are fed, sheltered and get at least basic medical care. But this poor old soul must somehow pay for his own needs after this debacle.

For years, I predicted this exact scenario would happen. I always envisioned it would happen in South Texas.
Just wait until a Texas rancher defends his property against obvious cartel gangsters. Just wait and watch.
