.444 Marlin

He shoots a CVA single shot in .444 Marlin. It looks like a powerful and accurate round to me.
By the way, one useful comment is found in the comments section.
“My preferred cartridge is the Hornady 265 gr. flat point. Unfortunately, the flat point is getting phased out in favor of the FTX. If you ever find the flat point ammunition on your dealer’s shelf, stock up. You will not regret it. The Hornady 265 gr flat point features a thicker copper jacket in comparison to typical .429 caliber bullets specifically designed to handle the additional velocity featured by the .444.”
I’m glad to see that I made a good choice.

I wouldn’t mind a single shot .444 Marlin, I wonder if a rifle length barrel would manufactured for the T/C Contender platform. I still have some ammunition from when I used to own the lever Marlin back in the mid 80’s – 90’s, maybe even a box or two of the Remington yellow – green 265 grain. I normally ran the standard 240 grain – much easier to find. I did not know of the jacket thickness – good to know ! Thanks for letting us know.

Don’t worry about jacket thickness. Handload a hardcast flatnose or semi-wadcutter and you’ll be fine. It will penetrate any animal in North America.

Speer made a 270 grain flat point that I had excellent results with for the 444.
Not sure if it’s still available.
