How do you clean your shotguns?

Me … not like this. I would assume that this method gets most of the debris out if it’s well dried. By well dried, I don’t mean with a towel. I mean with a vacuum chamber. I don’t have one of those. So I wouldn’t do this.

Works ok….if you don’t mind rust.

Actually, back in the long ago past that’s how I cleaned my muzzleloader. Of course, I’d disassemble the lockbox and meticulously clean all the tiny bits and make sure everything dried really well, but it worked. Still got the rifle, no rust. And by the looks of the guy in the video, there’s a fair chance he dropped the shotty in the mud. In which case, hose off until the mud is gone and then complete disassembly to follow.

Agree that for Colt-style revolvers, removing the barrel and cylinder and giving them the hot, soapy water treatment followed by drying in the oven was kind of SOP.

My father and his cohort in the weapons platoon would take their M1919A4’s into the showers.
