PTR 9CT: American Made MP5 Clone Review

Mrgunsngear reviews an American-made MP5 clone.
I think this is an interesting weapon, and I asked a friend of mine of adding a stock to this would make and SBR (knowing the answer before I asked).
He has a brace on it. You can argue that this is just a work-around to the NFA, or you can argue that this is an accoutrement that allows you to shoot the weapon in the best ergonomic configuration to be successful in a self defense situation. In the end, I don’t care how you argue.
The court has knocked down ATF challenges to the pistol-brace decision.
I think it’s instructive that the trigger is so heavy and has such large travel. I suppose if you purchased this model you’d have to get work done on the trigger (or a new one).

I don’t get this. Nothing more than a bulky heavy 9mm pistol. I prefer a AR rifle (10in) with 77gr OTM and a pistol on the hip for back up use. I’m sure you can be more accurate with the brace, but a Glock 17 and a case or two of ammo can get you up to speed for short range work. Now if they had a happy switch, OK, maybe, IF it was in 45. Otherwise rifle caliber for me. Internet wonky, I tried another post and it pooped the bed.

HK designed the MP5 to be shot in CQB from out of the shoulder pocket, with the butt midway between the sternum and the shoulder. At low ready, the shooter can bring the weapon up to engage and have the sight, (especially with an optic), up to the eye.
The weapon is remarkably accurate used in this manner, and presents the shooter to the assailant with body armor perpendicular to the threat.

HK designed it with full auto for CQB. That is my beef with this- semi auto only. Can’t have quantity you need quality (more power) for a single pull of the trigger. CQB you may only get one chance to pull….. I would prefer a 7.62 size over a 5.56 but I have not used the Black Out and I did not have any luck using the X39 in a AR platform.
