USA Today: The TSA is set to allow “knives” on board airplanes.
Then the “knives” are worthless and there is no need to carry one anyway.

They’re not weapons but they are handy tools. I carry one of the tiny Swiss Army Knives on my keychain and use it several times a day. In the office keeping my Benchmade clipped to my pocket would raise a few eyebrows and probably attract the attention of our rent-a-cops, but at least this way I have a cutting tool for all the little things I need it for throughout the day.
I’ve sacrificed several of the little SAKs to the TSA because I forget its there until I get to the security checkpoint. As you point out, it’s virtually useless as a weapon, however it is still very useful. Always pissed me off that I couldn’t bring it on the airplane but women could bring some of the most lethal looking knitting needles I’ve ever seen.
The rules are clearly written by people who have never given a moment’s thought to what can be used as improvised weapons.
