Cops Kill Disabled Iraq War Veteran In His Own Home

LYNN, Mass. – A disabled Iraq war veteran was shot and killed after police claim he grabbed an officer’s gun inside his apartment.
Lynn Police Chief Kevin Coppinger said officers were responding to reports of a disturbance. They allege the suspect, Denis Reynoso, got into a heated exchange with a person in a gray car before returning to his residence.
Investigators claim three officers entered Reynoso’s apartment where he wrestled a gun away from one of the officers.
“A physical struggle ensued during that struggle it appears that individual was able to take one of the firearms from one of the police officers and shots were fired in the apartment,” said Coppinger.
Reynoso was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
Family members claim the Iraq War veteran was caring for one of his two children during the shooting. They say he would never try to grab a gun from a police officer.
“You took him from two beautiful children and a wife, and a sister, and a mother, and everybody,” said Reynoso’s wife, Jessica Spinney.
Spinney says she disagrees with the police version of the story.
“Do you think a disabled veteran from Iraq would reach for another officer’s pistol? Never in a million years,” Spinney said.
I don’t know. I simply don’t know whether Reynoso reached for a weapon or not. But I do know that something (or some things) went horribly wrong for the encounter to get to this point.
First, a “heated exchange” isn’t even nearly reason enough for police to be dispatched. Thousands of people have heated exchanges all over America and the world every hour.
Second, unless the police saw a crime occurring inside the home, there was no reason for them to be inside the home. Even more pointedly, even if they were invited, they should never have entered the home. They should have asked if they could speak to the individual outside the home. If the individual refused, it was time for the police to leave, having no reports of a crime having been committed.
Third, exactly what kind of altercation was occurring for the victim to be within reaching distance of an officer’s weapon? There is a missing piece of the story that we’re not hearing.
Fourth, did this officer use a retention holster? How on earth did the victim obtain a gun from the officer – and if he didn’t actually have the officer’s weapon in his possession, then on what legal basis did the officer discharge his weapon?
Finally, the veteran was apparently disabled. Could this not have been handled with OC spray? Shooting a disabled war veteran? Really?

Look, it’s what pigs do. Or have you forgotten the FBI Agent who killed the man in Orlando who knew the Boston bombers? His initial story was that he was with the man in a room full of pigs – Federal and local, the man was ready to sigh a confession, and then suddenly attacked the Agent. After a few days, the FBI said “Well that’s not quite right. The FedPig was the ONLY officer in the room when the man “attacked” him”. And we haven’t heard any more about it. Just like the cold-blooded murder of Andrew Lee Scott by Lake County Deputy Richard Sylvester in his own home at 1:30 AM. Wanna bet that Deputy Sylvester intially claimed that he and his partner had identified themselves as “Law Enforcement” before pounding on that apartment door at that time of night? Wanna bet what the REST of the pigs in the Lake County Sheriff’s Office have done to his partner for being too honest to back his lies?
The only good pig…

I was on a ride along one night with the local PO. The officers were dispatch to a domestic where the man was seen by a neighbor beating is girl friend.
When we arrived the situation was being defused and nearly settled when the male said a profanity and tried to strike an officer. When I saw the suspect he was being proned with 4 officers holding his arms.
Some might argue police brutality. What I saw was four officers trying to contain a belligerent assailant.
At not time did any officer weapon come out of the holster. The male was mad because the GF had spent the cash in the console on a mountain dew and he had wanted a blunt.
I do not tell this story to absolve the officer in the shooting case. I cannot imagine a verbal disagreement ever requiring guns.
It is SOP in my community that when an officer is dispatched another will follow along. We rarely have situations degrade beyond words.
I would like to hear more facts in the shooting case. We won’t as the records are sealed in the case of a police shooting.

I will agree, Paul B, that there are cops who treat citizens as they should be treated. But if your local “Law Enforcement” has a SWAT team, or body armor, or helicopters with IR video, or full auto weapons, or armored vehicles, I will insist that it also has pigs such as those who murdered Andrew Lee Scott or Kelly Thomas or Kathryn Johnson or Jose Gurena or Eric Scott or Aiyana Jones. And I will guarantee that the “good” cops in that department will NOT take appropriate action against those pigs. Just as the Lake County pigs under Sheriff Borders did NOTHING to their murdering pig buddy, but have sh!+ on his partner who refused to back his lies.
There may indeed be a small number of “good” cops in this country. If there are ANY at all, they are far less than 1% of the total and are only in the SMALLEST of departments, FAR REMOVED from any of the hives. And merely being a small department does NOT necessarily make a “Law Enforcement” agency and its officers good, for there is no shortage of corruption and evil in small departments as well.

we have 54 officers in our department. The county has a pick up swat team. Both of the team snipers are on our force.
The Sheriff department does not have, to my knowledge, any kind of vehicles that could be called MRAP’s or APC’s.
I would say if you live in a community where you cannot trust the police to some degree, you need to move.

It is impossible based on this story to know the full story. So, we should probably not make too many statements that may be very wrong when the full truth comes out.
However, we should all realize there are serious issues with police acting as a para-military organization. Far too many SWAT teams and special equipment. The police should be held to a very high standard, and violations of the Bill of Rights should be immediate lost of job. No exceptions!

Texas,
I think I’ve been measured and moderate in my comments, and only stuck to things that must be true given the circumstances. The fact is that for a loud dispute involving a disabled man to turn into shooting by the police means that somebody didn’t do their job right. I would like to know more, but I don’t need any more facts to base my initial assessments on in order to conclude that something bad and wrongful happened.

That’s very nice, Paul B, that your local police are honorable men and women. Tell me, do you live within an hour’s drive of any of these Fusion Centers:
http://publicintelligence.net/fusion-centers/
???
If so, do your local “Law Enforcement” organizations have any officers assigned to them? These Fusion Centers are run by the DHS, staffed with FedPigs and local “Law Enforcement”, and tasked with filling out the DHS files on the TRUE terrorists in this country – all those gun-hugging, Bible-thumping veterans who believe in the Consitution. If your local police have told these fine entities to stuff it, then you truly are in a rare place and I commend you for your choice of location!

Well, under the last captain, our forces main rule was to enforce the constitution. Currently that captain is retired and working for the PD in a nearby larger community as a contractor. He was a budgeting wiz and I think that is what he is in.
I have heard about the “fusion” centers and I am concerned that DHS could have a nasty trick or two up its sleeve. Most of what DHS will use will not involve the PD as they are considered unreliable for DHS’s purposes.
I don’t know that this place is any better than any other, but I do know you live in the community you make. If the police think you are the enemy, you will be the enemy. If they think they are part of the community, they will act like it.

If your “Law Enforcement” have officers assigned to your nearest Fusion Center, you may want to rethink your position. They sit elbow-to-elbow with their FedPig counterparts, and are every bit as foul as the DHS. 54 officers is a large enough force to spare two to that Center. And “Law Enforcement” has no requirement to tell the truth to Mere Citizens. Taqiyya is not just for the Religion of Peace.
