A-10 Video

My family and I many times had the pleasure of observing the A-10s at Myrtle Beach when we visited. The A-10s have since left, an orphaned aircraft because the fly boys want to be cool and fly an aircraft that looks and sounds sexy.
Well, here is some news for the fly boys. The F-35 sucks and costs too much, is too complicated, doesn’t work right, and everybody knows it. The A-10 remains the greatest infantry support and armor attack aircraft ever devised by man. Here is some good video of the aircraft in training.

F-35’s are thin skinned, and ill suited for ground support – much less any type of support. They can’t fly low and slow enough to be a good ground-pounder platform, and they cost so much the Air Force will likely set a low ceiling limit to keep them out of reach of small arms fire, further limiting their effectiveness. Killing the A-10 is idiotic. Replacing A-10’s with F-35s is mind numbingly stupid – unless the object is to get more soldiers and Marines killed on the ground. A-10’s are so lethal and can suffer so much damage – and still make it back to base – there’s noting like them on the modern battlefield. Pilots love them, and the warfighters on the ground may love them even more.

Any plane that when firing its main gun *slows down* is something special and should be kept active

They flew in support of some training my Apache battalion did at Fort Hood, Texas including one demo where they shot up a derelict tank of some type. Live shells, very impressive. They practiced with our Apaches in Joint Air Attack Team training.
The spent shell cases are not dumped overboard, they’re returned to the ammo bay. When our helicopter pilots found out about this it alleviated their concerns over cases falling through their rotors.
