Do Not Ever Shoot A Gun This Way
BY Herschel Smith9 years, 5 months ago
She’s addressed as “commander” in the video, which comes from Rio de Janeiro.
She’s holding the gun limp-wristed, apparently has two fingers on the trigger, and presumably has never shot a gun in her life. Here is a picture of me shooting my XDm .45 in Pickens, S.C. Notice the stiff arms, forward stance, and position of my two hands.
Or if you wish, Jerry Miculek or Rob Leatham can teach you better than can I. Just seek someone out who knows more than you do before you ever attempt to discharge a firearm the way she did.

Guess that goes to show that all the equipment in the world won’t make you an elite operator…

Holy freaking heck, and she’s a uniformed officer? This reminds me of the dreadful videos of newbie females firing 12 gauge shotguns without any training.

I’m sure the bad guys are gonna let her get down like that.. you know, take your time and try not to roll over cause your so overweight… Pitiful. I’m sure the local bad guys are shaking in their boots when she goes on patrol.
Elite? Operator? None of the above.

I blame the instructors … I can only ASSUME that this was a training class, and not an annual certification exercise.
The Instructors should have stopped her for immediate remedial instruction at least three times before she pulled the trigger:
(1) when she tried to assume the prone position so clumsily … she was obviously not trained to put the bulk of her attention on the gun,
(2) when she tried to hold the semi-automatic pistol with her left thumb over her right wrist .. and right in the way of the recoiling slide, which could have broken her thumb.
(3) when she pushed her head obviously right in the way of the recoiling slide.
The consequences were as expected. Any qualified instructor would have been down on the ground correcting each error.
But she had no business being where she was, doing what she was doing. She did not seem to have ever been trained before being put in that position.
Both the shooter and the instructors should have been sent to school. Or just quietly asked to leave the range before someone got hurt.

My guess is that her trainers tired to instruct her in proper technique but that she pulled rank and told them that as a “commander” she didn’t need no stinkin’ instruction and to just watch and learn.
Which they did. :-)

She’s lucky it didn’t take part of her thumb as well.

I find it ironic that you’re criticizing her very poor technique, yet don’t have adequate eye protection on in your own example picture. All those would do, if hit by something, is break and leave you with both the original object in your eye and glass shards to boot.

Most street glasses (including the ones above) meet ANSI standards as regards the lens. The place they don’t involves the frames.

As soon as I saw her lay down and put the gun up I knew she was going to take some damage from the slide. Fool could have punched an eye out.
