AR-15 C-Clamp Grip

Or otherwise called, “thumb over bore” grip. As I’ve pointed out, it started in the gaming community, and it was taken up by SpecOps, and so you see folks like Chris Costa and Travis Haley using it.
I ran across this report today of a 3-gun competitor who is also using the C-clamp grip.
The folks at Magpul explain why they like the grip.

I firmly believe that if it looks stupid but works, it’s not stupid. Granted, it may require modification to work with certain rifles or differing builds, but the theory is sound.
I’d say pick something that works for you, and then get good at it.

I agree with the part about finding what works for you.
I would also point out that except for the grip, this is what is being taught in the USMC and had been ever since the first combat tour when Marines passed it on to Marines who were going to deploy.
The “plates-forward aggressive” stance (with the front of the body squared up against the threat) is exactly how my son taught me to run an AR-15. The C-clamp grip is just a modification of that, but the modified Weaver stance has gone the way of the Dodo bird. It’s extinct in combat training.

I always thought the Costa style of grip looked goofy until I tried it. It works. Not sure if I could ever get used to it, but yeah it does work.

Point of order: Steve Fischer (third video, big guy with beard) no longer works for Magpul, he has his own company now, Sentinel Concepts.
