Comment Of The Week: The Conversation Gun Controllers Need To Have With Their Wives
BY Herschel Smith7 years ago
Men cowering in their bathtub or not having the means to return fire is a sickness on their soul, the cure for which is Christ Jesus. If a man refuses to go armed he admits to a Holy God and all of mankind that he is unfit for his duties in a fallen world. He is a stunted child that is unequal to the task of manhood. Additionally, he doesn’t love his family. A man, any man, will fight to the death to protect that which he loves. This is God’s natural order that they deny and therefore, they deny God himself.
With Fred, I believe that any man who won’t defend his family is an ungodly coward. Using Jesus as an excuse for his cowardliness is insulting to the Gospel.
Jesus came to die for the sins of His people as a vicarious atonement. He had to drink the cup that was before Him. Your death, or the deaths of your family members, won’t be a vicarious atonement for anything or anyone. That’s why Jesus told His disciples to buy swords.
For everyone who wants to be a pacifist, beatnik, long haired hippie flower child, I suggest a long conversation with your wife (and children, if you have them). It can begin this way. “Dear, you know that I love you, and we lock our doors at night because I don’t want anything to happen to you. But that’s as far as I’m willing to go to protect or defend you. If someone invades our home, I’m willing to let him rape or even torture you, kill our children, and burn down our house, because I think that’s what Jesus wants us to do. We care more about the criminals than we do our own safety. I hope you understand. Oh, by the way, just to make sure you understand, I feel the same way about defense of you and the children in restaurants, school, and at church as well.”
Please write me and let me know how this conversation goes. I want the nitty, gritty details of her reaction.

Amen. Practice “Muscular Christianity.” If your church won’t fight – find a new church.

When I first started carrying, my wife objected a couple of times, based on where we were going.
However, my wife, being an intelligent person and well aware of current events, changed her mind and stopped objecting without my having to say anything.

I admit to being shy about criticizing someone in that situation, but the current state of affairs where “men” are afraid to defend themselves and family (i.e. own and carry firearms) and cower in fear and to save their own hide is truly pathetic.
How could you live with yourself if you’d acted that way and lost your loved ones? It would eat any good man alive. But I’m sure the current crop of femi-men would have no problem rationalizing it and go right on living their selfish existence.

I have already spoken to my wife about the fact that I will kill anyone who attempts to harm her. She says she is OK with that…

I am so tired of hearing fellow Christians preach and parrot that they put themselves ‘in God’s hands’. Then they purchase health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, prescription drug insurance, workers comp, home-fire-theft-flood and liability insurances, renters insurance, AAA road service, auto liability-collision-comprehensive insurances, and same for motorcycles boats and RVs. They take vitamins; get vaccinations, use sunscreen and bug repellant. They spend thousands on home security systems. They become obsessed with The Weather Channel. They lock their doors at night. They use seat belts. Buckle up Buckaroos! They give cell phones to their kids ‘just in case’. And the list goes on.
They preach ‘God is in control’ but then they feel compelled to put their ‘Insurance company in control’. Hypocrites! I say.

I don’t need to talk to my wife. If I had to kill someone, it would be to save them from her.

It is indeed troubling to see the cowardice and pacifism in the church but what do we expect when men like John Piper and Rob Schenck are esteemed in the evangelical leaders

Normal conversation at our house, before we head out:
Wife: You carrying today?
Me: *lifts cover garment* Yep. *winks*
Wife: *smiles bright enough to cast shadows on the sun* Great!
And we decided a LONG time ago that if we’re looking for a church to attend, it doesn’t matter how good the pastor is, how thought-provoking the message is, how many youth programs they have, etc., posting against CCW is a deal-breaker.
Ditto if they’re not posted, but nevertheless ask us to not carry.
We will not attend a church that neglects their God-given rights and duties, and demands we do the same.

W have several LEO’s at our church on Sunday but they are outnumbered by those of us to carry.

Bravo, Bravo, BRAVO!!!
This is an incredibly important message I have been trying to carry to my brothers for years. So many have bought into some bizarre notion that we do not have a duty to battle against evil. Yes, it is ultimately a spiritual battle, but there are manifestations in the physical realm.

Jesus taught about being a shepherd. Shepherds carry the crooked staff. As a walking stick. As a “hook” to extend the reach when pulling a wayward sheep back into the flock. And as “good stout piece of hickory” (to quote “the preacher” in Pale Rider) when the wolf – or the thief – shows up.
And he wasn’t defenseless while he walked this earth, either. Multiple times in the Gospels people were out to get him, and he “walked through the crowd” untouched. In Gethsemane, he told Peter not to defend the disciples against the soldiers – THEN he said both that he had legions of angels at his call AND he struck down ALL the same soldiers with one word. It’s doubtful the Romans even knew the word he said, but the Jewish leaders with them did. You see, what he said when they answered him “whom do you seek?” “Jesus of Nazareth” ANSWER: not (as commonly mistranslated “I am he.” But rather “I AM!” – in other words, the name of God that the Jews refused to say for fear of violating one of the Ten Commandments.
When (in that same scene) he told Peter to put the sword away, it was ONLY because he knew he HAD to be arrested – it was part of God’s plan.
And “laying down your life” (for your friends, your enemies, or your faith) does not mean kneeling to be executed by the terrorist when your wife will be next. It means fighting to the death (yours and theirs) to spare her.

The statement in your post rings true with the enlightened few. The natural order in a Progs relationship would never allow that conversation to occur, as bringing up such an antisocial behavior as owning a gun ownership is grounds for divorce. The suicidal self-loathing left consider it an honor to sacrifice themselves and their families at the altar of tolerance and diversity to obtain the ultimate status of victim. The institution of the Church is dead with the left and they simply use their Sunday gathering as a means of socialization and weekly PEP talk ala RAH RAH Jesus. The two Americas that exist are so diametrically that what we consider insanity is pushed as main stream and virtuous. I find it difficult to interact with a society in the final throws of a Marxist take over. Traditional gender roles destroyed check. Churches no longer the moral compass of society check. Emasculated male population done and done. The only thing left is to light the piers and purge those that they no longer consider tolerable and all that stands in the way of that is the pesky 2nd amendment.

A commenter above says these kind of men are controlled by their wives. I agree in most cases. These are the wives that do not see marriage as a partnership for producing a stable family. They see marriage as a checkbox and as a means to get THINGS and EMOTIONAL satisfaction. The women are naturally hard wired to see the possibility of danger differently, and therefore don’t have the ability in some cases to prepare and act properly.

Husbands are exhorted to love their wives as their own body and be willing to die for her as Jesus died for humanity’s sins. Ephesians 5:25-28. If a husband is not willing to use every legal means available to protect his home and family, he is disobeying God.

I find this interesting talking about men and them not being armed. The women I know like to shoot and are more dangerous then a rabid badger if you try and harm their children, even if they ran out of ammo and folks trying to screw with their kids they would kill you with a rock/teeth/strangulation ect!
You are in a relationship/marriage with someone you are BOTH responsible as you can be for your own and their well being, seems pretty simple.

I don’t look down on women who are not too enthusiastic about guns. After all, their primary job is not to fight, but to nurture. They simply don’t (usually) think in those terms. But what is a man here for anyway, just to be a sperm donor? Protection is our primary job. Men who might be nagged about carrying guns should just ignore their wife on this point. It’s not a matter for discussion.
We have some liberal friends like this; the man carried, but the wife was not too happy with it. Then one day they were out with their daughters on a big parking lot and there were some shady characters nearby. Wife says, “Um, you have your gun, right?” Husband says “Yes”. He never got any complaints from her again about it.
Ideally, of course, the woman also gets on board with carrying, herself.

Fantastic post and comments above! I remember that black woman they showed on tv a couple of years ago who said she would rather die than use a gun to protect herself. The left cheered and cheered over it. My husbands father is a Vietnam vet, who voluntarily enlisted, who owns several guns, but his wife is one of those people I like to describe as liberal republicans. She’s all about the right when it comes to keeping more of their money, but she’s pretty anti-gun. She would chastised my husband for carrying everywhere, and his father now leaves his gun in his truck most of the time because of her, and that’s when he even brings it. She considers it “low class” to own and carry guns… It’s pretty sad to see a man who’s suppose to be big, strong, and independent allow himself to be neutered by his gold digging, control freak hypocrite wife. There are a lot of things wrong with that women, and my husband and his father are now estranged because of her. Don’t ever allow these types of people to change who you are. They’re all brainwashed/brain dead useful idiots.

It is worth noting that at the time Jesus told his disciples to sell thier cloak and buy a sword, it was illegal to own weapons. Seems rather relevant given the push toward gun control.
