Those Who Wouldn’t Otherwise Vote
BY Herschel Smith4 years, 9 months ago
“Politics is a big part of it,” Gelles said. “New gun laws are bringing out the crowds.”
Annette Elliott, owner and president of Showmasters, a Blacksburg-based promotion company that runs about half of all gun shows across the state every year, said that since January, ticket sales are up 30%.
Walker called the current General Assembly session a “wake up call.”
“This is a packed house here, every table at this gun show was sold out probably a month ago … that’s the reason people are out here, they are concerned about the future direction Virginia is going,” Walker said. “One thing that we know, and we understand, is that if we register our supporters out here, and get them to the polls, we can push back.”
[ … ]
“It’s unfortunate that we are where we are,” Faraldi said. “But because of what’s going on in Richmond, coupled with what’s going on in [the] sanctuary movement around the commonwealth, it’s really bringing people out of the woodwork who normally wouldn’t vote in a local election.”
“Wouldn’t otherwise vote in a local election.” That’s part of the reason you are where you are at this moment. Local and state politics is where it’s at, and if you don’t participate, you’ll regret it. You simply must get past this thing of not otherwise participating in a local election.
If you don’t vote against the controllers, you’re voting for them. Make your mind up.

In TN, the Governor, Bill Lee, has called for a Constitutional Carry Bill to be brought to his desk for signature. I’ve been in contact with the State NRA rep, who claims to be taking the lead on this. I’ve assured him that we are all waiting for the NRA to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. He’s not happy with me. I don’t know him, but they only seem to involve me when it’s something major, funny that.
So now, apparently the TN legislature is attempting to write legislation based a press conference held by Governor Lee. This is probably the most idiotic way to write legislation that I’ve ever heard.
Look, all the TN legislature has to is drop the Permit language from the current code annotated, but leave the info and procedures etc. up at the TN HomSec web page. (We, me included face to face with TN reps, have made this point for years, and somebody actually listened, and the Governor has now called for keeping the permitting process for those who would like one.)
Then, after dropping the Permit requirement from the current code, then amend the proper criminal codes that are already in place to increase the penalties (that the governor wants, “youths” his actual word) for steeling a gun and illegal possession.)
It’s not hard.
Also suggest look to at the 16 other states, although all them are not great, that the Governor mentioned, for language used by them when they passed it. Also, The Tennessee Firearms Association has Model Language if they contact Mr. Harris who runs that org.
And I’m strongly against State Resident Only Constitutional Carry. I told the NRA guy this.
Now, I get to spend all day contacting legislators to make sure that this isn’t the stupidest thing to ever happen while the governor used the exact words; “Expand Rights”. If the bill doesn’t expand rights then it’s just another NRA total fail con job. The Speaker of the House also said; “It’s time to start trusting Tennesseans.” Well, I agree, but will the language in the bill actually reflect that.
Meanwhile, the TN NRA guy is planning a rally to support the bill, that hasn’t even been written. Ugh, I told him to focus on getting clean language via simple amendments instead a rally in support of what, we do not know.
I won’t go into what could have possibly changed the Governor’s mind about Con Carry, he vehemently hated the idea when he told me ‘No, only police should decide that.’ That statement came blurting out of his mouth, from the abundance of his heart, back during his campaign. I could speculate, but my only guess is, that this is the carrot, and RED FLAG laws are shortly to follow on, which would mean that Con Carry is actually null and void along with every other God ordained right enjoyed by Americans since BEFORE 1789. Taking somebodies gun who has committed no sin against God through evidence of actual actions in crime, not thoughts, is not Can Carry at all.
Sorry for the OT, Mr. Herschel.

“Heretofore otherwise law-abiding gun owners” is the way I like to phrase it…

Just one more point, and this really is the whole point; if one fraction of a square inch of TN in which I can now carry becomes prohibited by “Constitutional Carry” dear NRA, YOU ARE THROUGH. Do not mess this up!!!

Fred, they probably want the rally so Wayne can show off his new suit, cuff links and fancy loafers paid for by all of us life members.

Turns out that I may have been less OT than I thought. R’s are freaking about the, heretofore high fructose eating drooling into the TV, folks that are coming out the woodwork in VA and elsewhere.
Tennessee Red Flag and Constitutional Carry and Nashville Rally Update.
Update on Tennessee firearms laws this session. (I’ll qualify each statement, as the pols might do anything, they ARE vipers after all.
It is very likely that Red Flag legislation will not make it out of the Senate Judiciary Committee again this year. It was offered by Dems this time but last year it was introduced by Republicans. (we know your names!) So, good news here.
As to Constitutional Carry, a bill will very likely make it to the floor of the full House for a vote. This is according to to my Senator. It will likely simply remove the Permit requirement making it more appropriately called a Permit-less Carry bill. It won’t expand locations in which carry is allowed by law.
It will probably be modeled on OK or KY type legislation. KY is better but OK is doable for this year and then we start the long fight to continue the “expansion of rights.”
It WILL be state resident only. This is for now. It’s no cost (State Budget change) to get this expanded to all US citizens. Problem is, TN folks mostly don’t care about you, as it should be, they care about their God, their family, their county and their state, you, not so much, but hey, this is the biblical approach.
Permit-less carry has a $$ cost. (TN actually runs a surplus budget) The TBI and po po are opposing. These are the hurdles.
Rally update: GOA and Tennessee Firearms Association (NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE NRA at all, even in spirit) rally will happen on the 10th at 09:00 hours. This is similar to VCDL lobby day, in that we do this every year, some will go into the Hull Office Building (gun free zone) to meet with Reps, and some will hang out in Legislative Plaza. This is NOT an open carry of long gun situation, in fact, if you show up with a rifle, you will be promptly arrested, period. (We in TN, have much work to do with regard to Long Guns but few seem to want to tackle it.) up to 30,000 folks may attend, Eric Pratt (GOA will speak). You can get a “ticket” at the GOA page. I think that’s if you want to go into the Hull Office Bldg. You sure don’t need a ticket to hang in Legislative Plaza, not usually anyway. A word to the wise, don’t open carry in Legislative Plaza, just don’t, for your own well being. The po po will in no wise be as accommodating as they were in Richmond.
Skip to 3:25 or so for the Governor’s presser vid.

Bill Lee is pro refugee resettlement. All RINOs talk out of both sides of their mouths.
Republicans are not your friends.
“Institutions associated with conservatism, like the Marine Corps, are also implementing draconian rules and regulations. 44% of all military recruits hail from the South, but Commandant General David Berger has recently announced a plan to thoroughly eradicate all symbols of Southern and Confederate heritage from bases.
“At CPAC, the convention of the supposed conservative “grassroots,” early supporters of President Trump like Alex Jones and Gavin McInnes have been “canceled” by the conservative movement and forcefully bounced, while left-wing extremists like Jared Holt have been given press credentials.
“In “respectable” conservative media, not a single person has made a peep in defense of the Constitution.
“The only response to the elite agenda to punish white men for their political beliefs has come from Kyle Shideler, the Director and Senior Analyst for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy.
“In The Federalist, a pseudo right-wing publication famous for hiding its donors, Shideler responds to the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security’s decision to elevate “white supremacy” as a “high-level threat” in response to Black Israelites killing Jews not with civil liberties concerns, but ideological ones.
“According to Shideler, the problem is that groups the federal government defers to for classifying groups as terrorist have a bias against “conservatives” and “libertarians.”
“Shideler would like catches in any new legislation that would clearly protect the rights of anti-Muslim neo-cons like himself from terrorism prosecutions, by clearly designating “Islamists, Antifa, national socialists, black nationalists, or white supremacist groups” as groups who are not “committed” to the US Constitution, and thus fair game for persecution.”
I’m voting for Mickey Mouse.
