    It was New York that actually set the standard by legalizing the murder of the defenseless unborn in 1970, 3 years before Roe V Wade, by allowing women from anywhere to have
    a legal abortion. (Although Hawaii had already legalized abortion, it applied only to residents of that state).
    The bill was passed by a Republican controlled legislature and signed by a Republican governor (Rockefeller). In 1972, the Legislature voted to repeal the 1970 law, but Rockefeller vetoed it.
    New York has led the nation in the slaughter of unborn children ever since.
