Not Even Lloyd’s Of London Will Insure Wayne LaPierre And The NRA Board
BY Herschel Smith3 years, 4 months ago
So to answer the question posed in the headline, I think you could say that Wayne is the peril and his continuing presence at the top of the NRA is the hazard. Dumping the Gang of Four of Wayne, Carolyn, Charles, and Willes won’t cure the NRA’s problems but it would be a step in the right direction.
I don’t mean to sound sour, but it’s too late for that. The NRA could have focused on the largest and most wicked battle of the 21st century, and instead they chose to take junkets, outfit Wayne in expensive suits, and give Wayne a cute girl in a swimsuit to paddle around in his pool.
Too bad. They will answer to God for their misuse of hard earned money.

There is a ray of hope coming through those dark clouds…. pull up a chair and I’ll explain…
The NRA in recent decades, has exemplified much that is wrong with American (citizen) advocacy. The right to keep and bear arms has been under sustained assault for many years, but the NRA mandarins keep playing defense, when a blind fool could see that going on the offense is the smarter play. This alone speaks to who and what the NRA actually is: A non-profit group whose primary interest isn’t advocacy for its stated cause, but self-perpetuation. Wayne getting his swag and all of that. However, all isn’t lost -they can still serve a useful function.
Even a corrupt institution like the National Rifle Association can still serve a useful purpose – if we would only have the imagination. They may not be good for much when the times are fat, but when their rice-bowl is threatened, they suddenly turn into junk-yard dogs. Fancy that, right?? When DJT was in town, Wayne La Pierre was all about the junkets, clothes-shopping sprees, and and the like…. but now that his so-called livelihood is threatened, he and the NRA suddenly come out fighting.
There’s a lesson in there somewhere. Even those who don’t care about your cause can serve a useful purpose, if you have the savvy to use them as they have used you. What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, right?
None of this is to say that the NRA shouldn’t answer for their behavior when the time comes…. it is simply to say that Team Freedom has to seize control of the proceedings and steer them in the right direction. When the time is ripe, the NRA can be cast aside like the useful idiots they are, rather than the advocates for liberty they claim to be.
If they smarten up and fly right, we can always reassess…and if they don’t, Wayne and company can always be cut-off from the funding that supplies them. No bucks, no Buck Rogers…. hat tip to “The Right Stuff” film for that one.

John Ross commented on FB: “Many of you people that are reading this are not NRA members, but I’ll point out that you have benefited from the NRA’s efforts for all of your life.”
…and I replied:
That’s funny all by itself. Yes, I have been the beneficiary of the 1934 NFA and the ATF that came along with it, plus the 1968 GCA and the ubiquitous 4473s that accompanied it, PLUS background checks! PLUS a ten-year clamp on AR-15s in 1994!
But wait, there’s MORE! There’s Red Flag Laws that the NRA declined to score (negatively) and the Bump Stock Ban that Wayne the Peter actually advised Trump to go forward with!
Awright, NRA! You go, girl!

What have they done for me lately? Until NRA can provide a positive response to that question, they have no value to anyone who reveres the 2nd amendment.

Some of you might remember SMB, who formerly published The Resister. He was saying twenty-five years ago, the NRA stands for Not Relevant Anymore. It is more true today.

The great longshoreman-political philosopher (yes, he was an actual longshoreman by day) Eric Hoffer once said something along the lines of: “All great causes begin as movements, become businesses and degenerate into rackets…”
He could have been describing the National Rifle Association with his observation. When it was founded in 1871 – in the State of New York, no less – the NRA probably did some good, but those days of believing in the cause have long-since been superseded by the hum-drum of being a business, and since then, deteriorating into a racket.
Join GOA or NAGR or JFPFAO – they give a whole lot better bang-for-the-buck than the non-profit to supply Wayne cash for clothes, travel and lavish dining out and parties.
