   He also has a subtitle typo that listed the .223 ammo grain weight as 155 grain. He said one 55 grain bullet.

   Others have done similar videos but always good to know.

   Having said that, I wish that the tests had included frangible ammunition, of the kind which is supposed to break apart upon encountering a hard surface. Federal Air Marshals use it in their weapons for duty aboard passenger aircraft.

   In an aircraft flying at high altitude with a pressurized cabin and cockpit, any penetration of the outer skin or surface of the aircraft is potentially catastrophic. Even if the aircraft remains airworthy, at a minimum, the emergency oxygen system will deploy if there is a loss of cabin pressure – and the aircraft will need to then make an emergency landing.

   Given this reality, the Air Marshals employ special frangible anti-personnel loads which are effective against soft tissue but fragment upon hitting a hard surface such as a cabin wall.

   Legally-speaking, you “own” every shot you fire, and knowing what is behind your target is a must for any responsible FA owner/user. Frequent training and a high level of proficiency, as well, since excellent trigger discipline is a must and also IFF – “identification friend or foe.”

   The above realities are one reason many home security authorities advise against relying solely upon firearms for personal defense. There are situations where using a FA isn’t possible, isn’t safe, or both. There are many other steps which may be taken, pursuant to local statutes, including owning one or more watchdogs, installing a burglar alarm or home security system, improved lighting outside your home, more-secure doors, windows and locks; and sub-lethal munitions or means of defense, such as tasers.

   Speaking of which, in some municipalities and states, taser 12-gauge shotgun rounds are legal. These are shotgun shells which do not contain a traditional projectile such as a slug or pellets, but instead deploy electrodes for a taser which, when they embed into the “target,” administer a severe and incapacitating electric shock to the assailant, just as any hand-held taser would.

   I sleep with a G30 next to my bed and a cheap Charles Daly automatic shotgun under the bed. I used to have my AR under the bed until my dipshit nephew helped himself to it one day. Didn’t see that coming. I got the AR back but it’s too valuable to leave under the bed. And it’s a pain in the ass to go in and out of the safe so I just bought a gun that I can afford to lose. Updated numerous security issues with cameras and gates so it’s tougher for (people I used to trust) to gain entry. I carry the G30 so it is with me 24/7.
