Sig P365 XL Major Trigger Malfunction

Watch the video. Words couldn’t do better than he demonstrates in the video.
Whenever someone says to you, “Such-and-such piece of equipment is malfunctioning because you haven’t broken it in,” run for the hills. Don’t buy it. If you bought it, sell it.
You don’t do that with the brakes or other safety equipment for your vehicle. Don’t do it with guns.
What a stupid thing to say to someone who purchased this firearm.
If I purchase a firearm, it’s going to work, and work correctly, immediately, or I won’t have it for long. This failure not only puts the person at risk of needing it and not having it, but also of an inadvertent discharge, specifically not the fault of the owner.
Good grief. I don’t do Sig anyway. I see now for good reason.

Wow.
Yesir, back to the gun store, give me my money back, Sig can suck it….
Now had they said “send that unit in for warranty service immediately.” I would probably consider them for my personal use.
Thankfully Smith and Wesson’s seem to work just fine for me (and they make American jobs, not European ones).

Unless there’s an established base of the P365XL having this issue it’s a one off manufacturing defect. That SIG support said “break it in” is not surprising, that seems to be a common comment about new firearm issues regardless of brand or type.
I bought two S&W M&P a couple months apart, first one trigger smooth as butter, second one gritty. I got the “break it in” response from S&W. After shooting about 500 rounds through it the trigger was still gritty, so I ended up selling it.
Likewise I have a Palmetto State Armory AK47 that has jammed, misfeed and failed to fire since I got it. Told to “just shoot it” to get all the parts worn and working. Tried 4 different magazines, multiple ammo brands, still have the issue.

“A one-off manufacturing defect.” IDK, but a deadly defect.
“Break it in” is a stupid response. Always. No matter who says it.

Sig fan bois will defend their brand as adamantly as the Glocksters.
CZ, now, their pistols don’t leave the factory until they’ve gone through the “break-in” machine.
I’d expect that performance from, say, Taurus. I had a 605 revolver that would tie up when held in the horizontal position. If you pointed it down, at a 45 degree angle to vertical, it would fire. So, the only way you could defend yourself with that pistol was if you knocked your opponent down to the ground first. I took it apart and couldn’t find anything out of place, and after cleaning it was still doing it. Called Taurus and they had me send it to them. They wound up replacing it with a brand new one, but never told me what was wrong with the old one.

A simple machine should meet certain tolerances. Do they not calibrate their manufacturing equipment? In/Post Production QA? Nobody should have to break in a firearm.

Some problem with the trigger/trigger bar interface with the striker. The trigger cocks the striker and is released by a sear type mechanism. It is not something that is going to fix itself by “breaking in.”
It should not be too much trouble for an armorer to replace the out of spec part or parts.

I have several Sigs and have had no issues but none are of the plastic models. There is a lot here that is not said. Was the gun broken down, cleaned, inspected, and lubed before first use? What exactly was said to the Sig rep in the first report? I do the former to every gun I’ve bought new and have had no issues, ever. As to the latter, you should explain in detail to a factory rep everything done to a new gun since you bought it. They can’t help very well if key info is left out.

The Milwaukee Police Department is having problems with the SIG P320. It ‘accidentallyl discharges’. They’re not the only department to have that problem, either. See: https://www.fox6now.com/news/why-milwaukee-police-sig-sauer-guns-accidentally-going-off
