ATF Bans Simunition Sales To Civilians

Shared via Instagram by Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics, a UTM memo detailing how the BATFE has ordered UTM to stop selling their non-lethal training ammo (NLTA) to anyone other than law enforcement and the military. RECOIL has confirmed this directly with UTM.
How and why the BATFE feels they have this authority to decide law-abiding civilians can’t have NLTA arbitrarily is a mystery to us at this time.
We know force-on-force training isn’t something most of us do every weekend. The fact is, most of us never do it in our lives. That said, it is extremely useful training that should be available to every legal firearm owner.
This is another example of the BATFE using its made-up power to invent de facto laws and regulations to suppress Americans’ right to bear arms. Training and access to ammunition are central to our Second Amendment rights.
Beyond that, this ban is simply an absurd federal overstep since non-lethal training ammunition is non-lethal. No one is being protected by this ban. No one is being saved. This is purely about the BATFE and the executive branch as a whole furthering their crusade of civilian disarmament.
They don’t have the authority. They just made that up out of whole cloth. Hopefully this will be taken to court and the ATF slapped down.
Basically, the ATF doesn’t want you to engage in force on force training.
But notice what they did. They banned it for civilian use, but didn’t include LE in that category. This is a sinful omission, and probably intentional.
I believe the founders had something to say about occupying armies.

Maybe that’s the entire point of these decrees… force pro-gun legal organizations to spend as much time, money and effort in court as possible fighting these directives. The process is the punishment, right?
It bears mentioning that someone inside the deep-state or “the swamp” as it is called by some, wants the ATF to continue to do what it is doing. That much is clear, since not only has the agency not been disestablished, its funding is still intact and it hasn’t even been censured officially in Congress to my knowledge.
The sad fact that can be inferred from this is that not a whole lot of people inside the beltway of Washington, D.C. care much about the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

It makes total sense, to be given safer resources to practice your shooting skills, without serious fear of harming one’s self, or others. Simunition, UTM, etc. allow for repetitive skills to be enhanced by permit carrying gun owners.
I have five acres of land, and have already been cleared by my township, to set up a firing range on my property.
As a gun owner, I would feel considerably safer, using Simunition to practice, rather than live rounds. Just the thought of a live round reaching one of my neighbor’s houses is terrifying, even under the most stringent safety precautions.
Sure, I can go to my local gun range, where half a dozen untrained, beginner gun users, are firing live ammo, just feet away from me, and hope none of them accidentally shoot me, while reloading or aiming their live weapon.
I understand the ATF’s mindset, is a concern that civilians will learn to train on the same level as law enforcement and the military, which erroneously poses a threat to those forces.
First: Civilians don’t have the unlimited training and financial resources that the armed forces and police have. They don’t have the money to train with thousands of rounds of expensive Simunition every month.
Second: Giving civilians the means to train safely, with less chance of accidental harm, misfiring, etc. should be paramount to the ATF. Simunition is safer than live ammo.
Third: It makes no sense that I can buy hollow tipped rounds, and a Semi-automatic AR style rifle at my local Walmart, but I can’t buy, or train on non-lethal Simunition rounds, with an internal device that prevents lethal, live ammo from accidentally being loaded into my gun.
Stupid is, as stupid does!
