National Park Service Law Enforcement Is As Worthless As The Rest Of FedGov

If you recall we covered this event in some detail concerning what they should have done with a member of their party suffering from Rhabdomyolysis. This is a Malum Prohibitum crime with no victims. This was a victimless crime. Moreover, forcing the rest of the party to move very well could have placed their very lives at risk.
Is it possible for the NPS to look any stupider? Then there’s this comment.
I am a retired law enforcement officer and in nearly all things, you have officer discretion. Unfortunately, many new or younger law enforcement officers don’t understand that concept and treat everyone regardless of the incident as if they were a mass murderer. They don’t comprehend the impact their actions have and understand basic humanity and compassion. The National Parks Service and the Rangers are why I avoid National Parks with a vengeance. I had a similar run-in in a National Park where I was the subject of a traffic stop for 18mph in a 15mph speed zone. Family and friends in the vehicle (while still an active law enforcement officer), young guy who starts yelling at me for going by him 3mph over the speed limit. Asks if there are any weapons in the vehicle and then draws his firearm when I say yes. I remained calm and explained my status and showed him my credentials. Then demanded to speak with their supervisor for the behavior and pointing a firearm at someone without justification. Supervisor basically blew it off and said, “If you don’t like it, don’t visit a National Park.” Public lands that are definitively not “for the people” and absolutely out of control behavior of those expected to set the example and uphold the law. The National Parks service, Rangers and Law Enforcement have a difficult job, but their behavior is making it far worse and turning them into an enemy of the people. Almost as if they are forcing people with their rules, permits, timed entry and such to stay out of the National Parks. You derive your authority from the consent of the governed. Many have lost sight of that fact.
Firearms in National Parks has been legal since 2010, and lives have been saved because of access to firearms. The very first shooting of an attacking bear occurred in Denali National Park soon after the rule change. In this instance, the LEO apparently muzzle flagged someone because of legal carry.
Idiot. Dangerous idiot.
But in this case there were three parties to blame for this stupidity: the LEOs, the prosecutors and the judge.

Towards the end of the video, the gentleman said that they didn’t intend on breaking any rules/laws. Go back to 2016 just prior to the election and the Weiner laptop that was very quickly investigated regarding Hilary. Remember Comey had his news conference and said he made the decision not to charge her because he felt she didn’t intend on breaking the law and no reasonable prosecutor would decide to charge her. I leave you to draw your own conclusions about this when looking at both situations.

I’ve never had any experience dealing with NPS law enforcement but I have had experience dealing with US Forest Service law enforcement. Once was with a couple of guys that were doing an investigation into an illegal marijuana grow, and they were completely professional. I actually enjoyed that encounter. Once they realized they were talking to a good guy they were “Thanks for the help” and gone. The other run-in was with a guy who seemed to be a Piss Fir Willie (that’s what loggers such as myself call Forest Service employees) who they had given a gun, a badge and a two-week crash course in being a cop to. He had stopped me during a time of very high fire danger to lecture me in the do’s and don’ts in avoiding starting wildfires. I was treated like a pilgrim camper from L.A. and not an experienced timber worker driving a water truck which was owned by the largest logging contractor in the area said doufus was patrolling.
His lack of perception, people skills and professionalism was not appreciated.

To prevent a repeat of my broken shoulder in 2017 on Bright Angel Trail, I was using a 30 inch MSR Thunderbird ice axe obtained at a yard sale for $5 as a walking stick. Solid, dependable and the perfect height for me.
When the ranger saw it she accused me of possessing mining equipment in the canyon without a permit, informed me that she had encountered me before for the same reason (even though we had never met) and was going to seize all my gear and have me arrested Luckily cooler heads prevailed when my both my daughters intervened.
BTW, a few years later this NPS employee received the employee of the year award. Go figure.

In Red State park rangers have jurisdiction everywhere but they work for the state and not the imperial fedgov swamp slime Leviathan.
Right now the park rangers are on poacher patrol with cardboard deer cutouts looking for people shooting from vehicles.

One of my sisters wanted to be a park ranger. Since there was a hiring freeze she applied for Park Ranger LE that was hiring. During firearms training another student had an AD with a shotgun and she caught a few , fortunately superficial, pellets. She eventually got into the park service but not by the LE route.
