All hail the newest member of the 7th circuit, where they already hate your right to be armed.

Why would anyone want a self defense weapon that could not be extraordinarily dangerous when you need it to be?

Well, it’s not unprecedented. Ketanji Brown Jackson got onto the Supreme Court not being able to define what a woman is because, in her own words, “I’m not a biologist.”
On one hand, it’s ridiculous that she’d be so quick to ban something she admittedly can’t define.
On the other hand, if she consults with actual gun experts — or anyone with a modicum of sense — she’d learn that “assault weapon” is a made-up political term and the guns so described are no more dangerous than any other gun and very commonly owned for lawful purposes. Thus, “dangerous and unusual” does not apply.
Then again, I don’t expect she’ll ever actually consult with gun experts. She’ll consult with gun-ban experts to find out how far she can push and how much she can ban.
