Why Won’t These Ballistics Myths Die?

Jim does a nice job with this analysis.
For the record, I never shoot my heavier recoiling guns extremely tight to the shoulder. In fact, my 444 Marlin shoots better for me when held just a tiny bit loose.
Concerning the notion of semiautomatic rifle accuracy, I suspect as more hunters begin to use them, the barrels will get better and more like the gun he was using. And yes, they’re capable of sub-MOA performance.

Myth 1 performance to be expected with that bullet at that velocity.
Test it with the same bullet at .223 velocity.
Next, test solid bullets at both velocities.
Compare those results.

If you’re saying that these results won’t present linearly, that’s plausible.

Shooting how ypu like with the grip and position IS subjective…
Semi autos are already VERY capable of being accurate. You just have to spend the cash or time waiting to be cheaper.
My wilson upper in 224 valkyrie is a slayer with long 22 bullets (95 sierra smks, and 62 gr eldvts), you will have no issue inside 300 yards. Past 500 they destroy a 223.
Honestly, I’m excited to see the PSA 14.5 in 308 and 6.5.
Bullets, powder, magazines and the Stoner platform have evolved, positively, to a great extent in 10 years.
