Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) introduced a bill on Thursday that would prohibit federal law enforcement and local police that receive federal funding from entering homes without warning through a “no-knock” warrant, which was reportedly obtained by the officers that shot Louisville resident Breonna Taylor in her home on March 13.

Why it matters: In the wake of nationwide protests against the killing of George Floyd, there’s now a bipartisan consensus that police reform is necessary.

Senate Republicans led by Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) are planning a package that would require states to provide data on the use of no-knock warrants, but Paul’s proposal goes even further.

House Democrats, meanwhile, have proposed their own bill that would reform police training, make lynching a federal crime, and ban chokeholds and the use of no-knock warrants in drug cases.

Would you really have expected that either the democrat or republican bills would have banned no-knock raids outright like Rand Paul’s bill?

Of course not, and neither does this bill have anything whatsoever to do with George Floyd.  But watch it and see, and let me know later if I was right about this.

Rand Paul’s bill doesn’t stand a chance.  The FedGov, StateGov loca .gov wants their ability to send in the thugs.

If they don’t ban raids outright, then everything else is window dressing.

First, there is this news from Military.com.

Guard members are carrying rifles, sidearms and ammunition in response to a “credible threat” aimed directly against them as reported by the FBI, Army Maj. Gen. Jon Jensen, adjutant general of the Minnesota National Guard, said in a phone briefing with reporters.

So regular readers know I’m a wonk for such things.  This means that there were arming orders.  There had to be, or else they would have had no ammunition or weapons.

Next up, via David Codrea, this interesting news.

Townhall’s Julio Rosas is on the ground in Minneapolis this week, reporting on the protests and riots. Tonight he’s reporting that the riot police and the National Guard have abandoned a perimeter they had set up earlier in the day, chased away by the rioters.

Minutes ago Rosas, who’s a tough Marine, by the way, tweeted video of the protesters/rioters cheering as police and the National Guard abandoned their post near the third precinct, which rioters torched on Thursday night.

So much for arming orders.  So much for weapons and ammunition.  So much for ROE.  I guess it’s better to let looters destroy businesses, throw bricks, smash windows and hit people over the head with boards.

EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn (WABC) — A grocery store worker in Brooklyn is in custody after police say he shot and killed a man armed with a knife.

It happened just after 11 p.m. Monday at Rose Family Grocery Store in East New York.

Police say 25-year-old Edwin Candelario attempted to attack the worker with a knife during an argument.

That’s when the 34-year-old worker pulled out a gun and police say he shot Candelario several times, killing him.

It appears the worker was not licensed to have the gun.

We certainly need to focus resources on where they’re needed.  A man defending his life cannot be allowed.

The Arkansas State Police have entered into a contract with Berryville, AR, manufacturer Wilson Combat to supply the company’s 5.56 NATO chambered WC-15 patrol carbines. The agreement is for an initial delivery of 375 firearms with the future option of ordering an additional 600 units.

The law enforcement-grade patrol carbines feature Wilson Combat forged receivers and the company’s 14.7-inch match-grade stainless steel barrel. Rate of rifling is 1:8-inch. The guns also ship with Wilson Combat M-Lok handguards.

Other Wilson Combat parts used include its enhanced bolt-carrier group and Q-Comp muzzle device. The carbines are also equipped with the company’s hard-anodized aluminum, mil-spec back-up iron sights. They are windage and elevation adjustable, with A2-style posts up front. Windage adjustment is at the rear, where the user can also select between two apertures—.2 or .075 inch in diameter.

It sure is awesome that those Arkansas state cops will get the chance to use their new gear in more raids like this one.

I’m wondering what Arkansas taxpayers think about buying unnecessarily expensive rifles for their friends and community heroes.

Who says cops want to obey the constitution?

A division of the Maine State Police illegally gathered and handled personal data about Mainers, according to an employment discrimination lawsuit filed in federal court by a state trooper.

George Loder, 50, of Scarborough is suing the Maine Intelligence Analysis Center, and its supervisors, claiming he was demoted after he told his bosses that the center was collecting and maintaining data illegally, including information about people who had applied to buy guns from firearms dealers, those who legally protested and those who worked at a Maine international camp for Israeli and Arab teens. The center is responsible for sharing information with other law enforcement agencies.

The complaint does not say with which agencies the center may have shared the information other than the state police. It also does not say when the center began collecting it. Loder expressed his concerns to supervisors in November 2017.

Loder alleges that staff at the center illegally gathered and kept information gleaned from social media about people who legally protested in September 2018 against Central Maine Power Co.’s proposed transmission corridor stretching from the Quebec border to Lewiston.

State police maintain a database that can be searched to determine if a person is prohibited from purchasing a gun. Applications to purchase firearms are supposed to be destroyed after the sale is approved but the center stored that information in the database, the suit claims.

It’s almost as if they want to know everything about everybody, huh?  But the law is for little people.  You’re a little person and you have to obey it.  They don’t.

This is the first installment he made.

So what happened to him?

There are two problems with all of this.  First, he has a sense of right and wrong and actually believes in it.

Second, he has an IQ greater than a Chimpanzee, and thus on both accounts he is unsuited for law enforcement in America today.

Putnam County, FL — Proportionately, cops kill far more dogs than they do people. It’s quite a strange phenomena because postal workers, UPS drivers, and food delivery drivers don’t seem to have the same problems with dogs like cops do. It’s so devious, the killing of family pets by those sworn to serve and protect the public, we actually keep an archive of stories of cops killing man’s best friend. But one cop learned the hard way shooting a dog can be dangerous. He shot himself instead of the dog.

Chris Crenshaw, of Putnam County, had committed no crime and had harmed no one when a Putnam County deputy came to his home, walked into his gated yard and knocked on the front door before attempting to kill his dog.

Police were reportedly looking for a person who’d ran away from home. When the deputy knocked at the door, Crenshaw’s dog ran outside and police claim it charged the officer.

That’s when the deputy opened fire. Luckily for the dog, however, the deputy shot himself in the foot instead and the dog is fine. News 4 JAX reports that according to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy reached for his gun to shoot the dog, but the dog moved out of the way and the deputy accidentally shot himself in the foot.

If readers think I get sappy and emotional from time to time, there is good reason.

I am a sucker for a happy ending.  This one brought tears to my eyes.

Because if this is what you think you’re supposed to do, you don’t understand or believe in your oath of office.  You’re dishonest and dishonorable, and so are your deputies.

Yeesh!  What a bunch of entitled, fat ass geezers with expensive toys on our expense.  I’m talking about the cops.

Oh, and I don’t want to hear another word about how great Texas is. Texas is just like every other state. All fifty states are full of little tyrants. Close your eyes. Go out into public. Open them. Somewhere near you is a tyrant.
